Gangnam Style Didn’t Break YouTube but it did Break Another Record

Remember when PSY’s Gangnam Style video reached over a billion views and it was such a huge deal? Now, the video reached another milestone, becoming the first video to be viewed so many times it forced YouTube to do an upgrade from 32-bit integer to a 64-bit integer. However, although there were rumors (and stories) about Gangnam Style “breaking” YouTube, the update was actually performed in May long before there was any threat of the counter actually being broken.
